All About the Group Archive Project

Many of you are familiar with the Yahoo groups, some large number of which focus on the fetishes and topics of interest to the Gay BDSM community. This article describes the Group Archiving Project as it stands today, and as it will develop over the months to come.

The ABV2 archive started as an idea simply to preserve the messages and images being shared through ABV2. It was originally going to be nothing more than that, but then Yahoo decided to throttle bandwidth and set the Group level and user level limits making it very difficult for those members of our community who simply could not participate in the groups via email. Originally this article was written in response to a letter of complaint which stated that I was spamming Groups and addresses the issue of both Commercial and Free content sites, the needs of production comnpanies and websites and sums up the "Market" part of the American Male Slave Market.

we need producers of adult media to produce the media for us, and we need commercial sites to promote and sell the media. For the most part the producers of the media we enjoy are what is known as "cottage industry." They are small companies who focus exclusively on making media within the gay fetish genre. None of us are becoming "Hugh Hefners." I talk with many of these companies...and to the best of my knowledge none of them have private jets, so don't start thinking that any of us are getting wealthy at your expense. It's just not true. I believe they make a living at it - I know they work longer hours and sometimes get discouraged... but in the end they, like me, do it because it's something they love.
